Thirteen people died in a clash between police and rival gangs in Rio de Janeiro.

The sound of the war between traffickers resonates in the district of Catumbi, in the center of the city. This is where the communities of Fallet, Fogueteiro and Coroa live, where nine thousand people live.

The hills face each other, separated by a street, and are dominated by traffickers of different factions fighting for traffic control in the area.

It is not today that this region suffers from conflict between traffickers of rival factions. This week, thugs from Fallet-Fogueteiro Hill attempted to invade Crown Hill, again leaving residents hostage to the war.

A video shows the moment when the traffickers try to invade the hill of the crown.

On Friday (8), the Shock and Bope Battalion police launched an operation in the communities.

Police received reports that more than 20 traffickers were fleeing the back of a Morro do Fallet home.

Police said that they had been shot dead. There was a clash: 13 people died, two men were wounded and 11 were arrested.

At the hospital gate where the shot was fired, relatives questioned the police action.

"As they said, they were in a house and took the boys and killed them, nobody here exempts them from leading a life that should not be right, but what we are asking for is is that it's stopping, not killing, "said one woman.

Four firearms, 14 pistols and grenades were seized during the operation.
