Pope Francis admitted Tuesday (5) that priests and bishops had badually abused nuns. The statement was made in the plane to return to Italy after a trip to the United Arab Emirates.
"Priests and bishops acted in this way," admitted the Pontiff, who had never treated this subject before, interviewed by a journalist.
He stated that it was possible to find traces of these violations "in general parts," but are more present in "some new congregations and in some areas."
"We We have been working on this for a long time, and we have suspended several religious who have been removed from their posts, "said Francisco, without mentioning names or countries.
"I do not know if the (canonical) process is over, but we have also disbanded some of the congregations of women who have been very involved in this corruption," he added, noting that the Church could not hide in denial.
