The decision of major Australian supermarket chains to ban single-use plastic bags irritates some consumers in the country, where customers come to attack employees of these companies.
The two major supermarket companies Woolworths and Coles announced: in 2017, would stop giving free bags to their customers and start selling reusable bags for 15 cents Australian (about 15 cents).

"We understand the frustration of some clients with these changes, but this kind of abuse and violent behavior with employees is unforgivable," said national union secretary Gerard Dwyer in a statement.
According to a study by the American science magazine, eight million tons of plastic waste arrive all year round in the seas and oceans of the world, or 250 kilos per second.
Several countries have taken steps to reduce their consumption of plastic. In Australia, all states and territories have banned plastic bags or intend to do so, with the exception of New South Wales.
