In preparation since the beginning of this year, it is launched Thursday, in São Paulo, the check. Coalition of 24 Brazilian media organizations, including Folha the project aims to identify, verify and fight rumors, manipulations and false information on the elections of 2018.
The work, planned to begin in August, is headed by the first project of Harvard University in the United States, specializing in researching strategies to combat the "false news".
The evidence in Brazil occurs as a result of other initial projects developed around the world.
In a collaborative way, journalists from participating companies will follow social networks, websites and private messaging applications to find not only false information, but also falsified content and manipulations that can influence the election campaign.
During the audit, more than one vehicle will participate in the examination process. The publication occurs only after at least three members have agreed on the falsity of the information in question. The posting of denials will be made on the member sites and on the page www.projetocomprova.com.br
"False news has always existed, and professional journalism has always fought against it. A serious and quality journalism is the best antidote against the growing damage that this type of action can cause, "says Sérgio Dávila, editor of Folha . USING WHATSAPP
In Brazil, unlike in other countries, the use of WhatsApp is considered the main provider of falsified content. Therefore, the evidence will require the Brazilians to send rumors to an account created specifically for this purpose.
Folha also launched this week a service by WhatsApp. To participate, the reader must register the Folha number (0-xx-11 99490-1649) in his contact list and send a message with the content to be checked, accompanied by the phrase "false news".
Stream audio, video, stream, images or news via the app or social networks such as Facebook or Instagram. The log will select some of the information received and check it.
