In addition, three other cases of dengue fever have also been confirmed among residents of the municipalities of São Tomé and Principe. Luiz Gonzaga and Sete de Setembro (with two cases).
These relate to residents of the state, but have contracted the disease during trips to other parts of the country. Summer is the best time of year for the circulation of mosquitoes that transmit dengue, zika and chikungunya, Aedes aegypti, due to the increase in temperature and rainfall.
To strengthen vector control measures, Health Secretary Arita Bergmann announced this week the transfer of $ 2.4 million to 232 municipalities at higher risk of infestation.
In the four confirmed cases (one Aboriginal and three imported), municipalities have already begun to block actions involving the application of larvicide within a 300-meter radius of residences where cases have been recorded.
CEV Epidemiological Surveillance Division Chief, Tani Ranieri, points out that the three cities are part of the North West Region, where the incidence of municipalities considered infested is higher presence of outbreaks of larvae Aedes aegypti in active search at least once in the last 12 months).
"In total, 319 gaucho cities meet these criteria to be clbadified as mosquito-infested.This means that if someone has the disease, in those municipalities, the number of infected people could be higher. important because we have the identified presence of the transmitting mosquito there, "says Tani.
