The commander of the Rocinha Peacemaking Unit (UPP), Captain Marcelo Alves, was shot dead on the night of Wednesday 26th during an attempted robbery in the Curicica neighborhood, in the western zone of Rio.
According to information provided by the Military Police (MP), the firing does not reach any vital organ of the commander and his state of health is stable. Marcelo was injured in the back and saved at the Barra Hospital in the Gold.
The captain said that he was driving in Coronel street Pedro Corrêa after being surprised by criminals in a car. Three armed men reportedly made the commander and a friend accompanying him, who is also a soldier
When we approached him, Marcelo responded to the badault, fired at him. One of the suspects and was also shot.
