Security was able to prevent the invasion. But the tension was obvious. There was vandalism. Bombs, stones and trestles were thrown at more than one door from headquarters and into the club. Protesters also burned garbage cans in Rua Álvaro Chaves. To disperse the group, the military police was called. There were shots of rubber bullets.
The meeting responds to a request from the opposition, approved by Fernando Leite, Chairman of the Deliberative Council. In this document, a group of councilors asked for the presence of Marcus Vinicius Freire (club CEO), Rogério Romano (head of social affairs), Lawrence Magrath (marketing) and Fernando Simone (special adviser to the presidency) to explain the areas respective – the call took place before the departure of Marcus Vinicius from the flu.
The representatives of the protest said that the purpose was not violence, and indeed some people have asked that there is no invasion. The purpose of the event was to deliver a letter to the chairman of the deliberative council, Fernando Cesar Leite, read at the meeting. However, the table decided not to read, since the president talked to fans outside. The Council Presidency will send a copy of the letter to each of the club's counselors – even those who were not present – as this is a more effective measure.
