Some Samsung phones have problems with your native email application. According to reports shared on Reddit, the service sends pictures to others without the consent of the owners of the device.

Affected users report that the application also planned to send text messages to random contacts. According to them, the problem occurs in several Samsung smartphones such as Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 8.

In one case, the application sent the entire Galaxy S9 + photo gallery of 39 a person while she slept Fortunately, the photos were sent to his girlfriend. However, they could have caused an undesirable situation when they were sent to the boss, for example.

To make matters worse, the application leaves no evidence that the message was sent.

In a Samsung forum, it is suspected that the bug was caused by a recent update of the application that released the RCS (Rich Communication Services) for operators like T-Mobile. RCS is a protocol seen as the successor to SMS.

It offers features such as support for videos and GIFs, location sharing and read receipt.

For Gizmodo Samsung claims to be aware of user reports and its technical teams are investigating the subject. Although the problem is not resolved, there are two outputs: revoke the authorization of the Samsung email application to access photos or temporarily stop using the service.
