Scientists find a hard drive in a seal poop and ask for another poop as a rescue – Galileo

The sample would be badyzed to monitor the health of these animals and was in the laboratory for over a year when scientists decided to study it. After cleaning the pen drive and letting it dry for a few weeks, the researchers they tried to connect it to see if there was still something in it. The object was "in good condition considering its origin," says NIWA. When scientists connected, they found several photos and videos of sea lions.

NIWA posted one of the videos on their Twitter to try to know the identity of the author. It shows two sea lions playing in the water and the tip of a blue kayak with a person sailing.

However, the person who wants to recover his pen will have to pay a price: another sample of faeces of the species. "The more we can learn about these creatures, the more we can make sure that they will be taken care of," says Jodie Warren, the volunteer who was working on the specimen in which the object was found.

It is important to remember that while this is a curious story, it is alarming to think about how the pen has entered the seal body. "It's very disturbing that these incredible animals have plastic on the inside," says Jodie.
