A survey published Thursday (20) by the IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) indicates that seven out of ten Brazilians are connected to the Internet. The cell phone is the most used device for access – 98% of users say they use the mobile phone to navigate the digital network. The data date from 2017 and cover 181.1 million Brazilians aged 10 years or older

The survey found that three out of four households used the Internet. Usage compared to landline declined: in 2016, it was 33.6%. It is now 31.5%.

The institute says that women and people aged 18 to 24 spend as much time as possible on the Internet. Among seniors, however, there was a significant increase: from 25% in 2016 to 31.1% last year. This means that nearly one in three seniors is connected. On the other hand, the group of Brazilians who use this service the most belongs to the age group of 24, with 88% of membership.

With the popularization of smart TVs, the number of Brazilians who report using the Internet via the device has increased. In 2016, they were 11.7%. The following year, it rose to 16.1%, which is technically related to the use in tablets. Already, the use of the Internet on conventional computers, such as desktops, and laptops, such as laptops, has declined.

The four main Internet users in Brazil are:

  • 1st: Using social networks (such as Facebook, Instagram and Whatsapp);
  • 2nd

On the other hand, 54, to listen to videos (like YouTube and Netflix),

  • 4º: 7 million people aged 10 or older do not do not connect to the Internet. Among the reasons, it is not known how to use the service, the lack of interest in the content or the high prices in the outsourcing of the network.
