The National Union of Tax and Tax Auditors of the Federal Government vehemently repudiated any leakage of clbadified information involving the tax procedure that would be targeted by Minister Gilmar Mendes of the Federal Supreme Court. In a statement, Sindifisco reiterated its defense of the constitutional principles and norms that make any taxation subject to respect for fundamental guarantees and respect for the fiscal secrecy of the persons under investigation.

Sindifisco says he expects the leakers to be identified. The note also states that, although the breach of confidentiality is a reprehensible act, the same can not be said of the inspection procedure, which must be protected from outside interference.

On Friday (8), Minister Gilmar Mendes asked that Minister Dias Toffoli, president of the STF, investigate the conditions of the investigation against him in the federal government. In an official letter to the President of the STF, Gilmar Mendes pointed out that, under the rule of law, every citizen is obliged to respect the obligations provided for by law and, therefore, to submit to a control regular by the state organs. However, he felt that the work of the auditors was clearly linked to a criminal investigation, which was not the responsibility of the tax servers. For him, the investigation was therefore abusive.

In addition, the Minister stated that the procedure contained no concrete fact and that it was therefore part of a strategy to attack the reputation of predetermined objectives.

The proceedings concern Gilmar Mendes, his wife, Guiomar Mendes, and relatives of the Minister.

Questioned by the President of the STF, the Federal Revenue Service, with the support of the Minister of Economy, determined that the agency's legal department was investigating the performance of the auditors.

In a note also, lawyer Guiomar Mendes, wife of Minister Gilmar Mendes, stated that she would never give up giving explanations to the Federal Tax Service and that she hoped to be qualified citizen and taxpayer, possibly with errors of person who has committed a tax offense.
