The Legislative Assembly of the State of Rio de Janeiro (Alerj) on Wednesday canceled (5) the veto of the governor Luiz Fernando Pezão on the bill n ° 4.021 / 18 guaranteeing the free transport long distance for public school students. With the reversal of the veto, the PL automatically becomes law.

The new law, co-authored by the author MP Carlos Minc (PSB) amends Law No. 4 510/05, which already guaranteed free intermunicipal transport to pupils in primary and secondary schools and public, municipal and state techniques. The new legal text adds in the old law the specification of different types of technical education (integrated, concomitant and subsequent) and extends the benefits to students of higher education.

"This was a historic victory for the student movement! I was the author of the original free pbad law. All students were already entitled to free, minus students and technical schools.
