The 58-year-old, who joined the team in 2006 and recently renewed his contract until 2022, said he was responsible for the first phase-out of Germany in phase of World Cup groups since 1938 after defeats in Mexico and South Korea.

"It's hard to say now, I'm going to need a few hours," said Loew when asked if he would stay in front of the German national team. "I'm really shocked that we did not have it, I really felt like the team, they really wanted to move in. I'm incredibly disappointed with this elimination, but I'm going to think about it calmly."

German manager Oliver Bierhoff said that he thought that Loew, who took the world title team to Brazil four years ago, will remain in power.

"He signed a contract renewal, so I understand it will be like that," he said. "But this is not the time for that, we have to badyze things, why it has not worked, but I understand that it will continue."

Germany needed a win over South Korea to progress while Sweden beat Mexico 3-0 in the other match on Wednesday to secure its place in the round of 16 .

Instead, the Germans conceded two goals in total and were eliminated from the World Cup with just three points in three games while Sweden and Mexico qualified.

"The frustration of being eliminated is simply huge," Loew said.

"We did not deserve to win the title again, we did not deserve to access the last 16. We wanted to win, but we did not have what we needed, lacked fluidity, lack of play. "

"We knew that the Swedes won, but we did not have enough to score, we deserve to be eliminated," he added.

Loew said that he could not explain what had happened during the tournament, but acknowledged that there was some arrogance of his team in the opening match against the Mexico, in which Germany was defeated 1-0.

After apparently regaining his campaign with a last-minute victory over Sweden in his second match, Loew was sure his team would beat South Korea and qualify.

"I take responsibility for the elimination, but I think we put a good team on the ground today," he added. "More towards the end, we had to take a defender and put Thomas Mueller, we had to take the risk because we needed the goal."

"He left some holes behind, but we had to bet and I knew it would happen."
