Temer announces federal intervention in Roraima; will be elected governor | Politics

President Michel Temer announced this Friday (7) the federal intervention in Roraima until December 31st.

According to President Michel Temer, Speaker The Federal Council of Roraima will be appointed and, on Saturday (7), will be called the Council of the Republic and National Defense.

Under the law, both councils should be consulted on the intervention, but any decision taken by the organs against the measure does not have the power to prevent the decision of the president.

At present, the state of Rio de Janeiro is also subject to intervention by the federal government, but only in the field of public security. The intervention was decreed by Temer in February and will also last until December 31st.

Earlier Friday, a conciliation hearing between the Union and the Government of Roraima ended without agreement. The hearing took place at the headquarters of the Federal Supreme Court.

In April, the state government asked the STF to close the border with Venezuela. The rapporteur for the case, Rosa Weber, rejected the request, considering that this decision was incumbent on the President of the Republic. Michel Temer, in turn, says that the closure is "attributable to nothing".

The hearing on this Friday was scheduled by Rosa Weber and directed by Judge Instructor Gabriel da Silveira Matos. The goal was to reach consensus and put an end to the actions of States.

According to the opinion of Temer, they participated in this Friday's meeting with the president in which the intervention had been announced:

We met today a good chunk of the team, as you can to note it, with the presence of the president of the Chamber of Deputies. I have also communicated with Senator Eunice, but he is in Ceará and outside Fortaleza.

But we have been discussing for about three hours the question of Roraima, which actually worsens two days here. And we have tried the most varied means, in order to provide resources to Roraima, in an attempt to prevent this movement taking place there.

We have not found any legal solution. That is why I spoke to the governor a short time ago and said that the only way to resolve this issue, particularly of a salary nature, would be to adopt the intervention until that the new governor, of course, is in possession of power. That is to say until December 31st. And I did a kind of negotiated intervention with the governor. She accepted this formula, accepted this formula. He thinks that in reality, the situation is complicated in the state of Roraima and that the best solution would be precisely that one.

We really want to pacify Roraima's problems. And you see that, although it is an intervention now, in the same state, but it is in agreement with the governor. That was at least what we talked on the phone with her. Not only me but the general advocate of the Union.

So it is this communication that I want to do, I hope that it will reach Roraima, convinced that with this intervention, and soon I will consult, for interventor.
