RIO – An exchange of gunfire scared anyone who pbaded near Edificio in Argentina around 15:00 on Monday afternoon. The shooting was the result of an attempted burglary on the premises.
According to witnesses, two motorcyclists approached a lady while she was leaving an agency of the Itaú Personality Bank in the area. After stealing the woman's handbag, they saw some staff members who were driving nearby and started firing.
Thieves threw at least three times. Frightened, some pedestrians even lay on the ground. Military police reported that the thieves had escaped. Police officers managed to reach them by persecution in Pereira da Silva Street, Laranjeiras, in the southern zone.
According to the Prime Minister, gunshots were exchanged and one of the criminals was shot dead. A 38-caliber revolver and a suitcase containing dollar and euro banknotes were seized. The second involved in the flight managed to escape.
