Director James Wan spoke to Den of Geek about his new movie "Aquaman" and explained that the hero "does not necessarily fit" in the cinematic universe of DC.
"We saw it in other films but I really wanted to tell an independent story," said the filmmaker before the premiere of the film in London.
I'm asked questions about this and I'm told, "Listen, you have so many movies to do with Superman and Batman and so on, let's give this guy his time in the spotlight, this is your opportunity. He's never had a chance before, just leave it as his movie and do it right, and maybe we'll have fun mixing it with the other characters. "
The director explained that the ultimate goal was to make a solo movie that works instead of bringing together different references from other DC characters. "I did not want to join other characters just by adding other heroes."
"Aquaman" starring Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson and Nicole Kidman in the cast The film will be released theaters this Thursday (13)
