According to the Hbado Plattner Institute an agency dedicated to data security, more than 2.2 billion emails and identification information were disclosed on the Internet. The data constitute parts of the Collections No. 2 and No. 5 compiled from information published in the dark web in mid-January 2019.
All began with Collection No. 1 which contained 773 million e-mail addresses and 21 million pbadwords. Surprisingly, there are still seven other "collections" totaling more than 500 GB of private information.
Fortunately, it is possible to know if your email has been affected by any of these leaks. Just enter the website of the Hbado Plattner Institute and check if your email address is part of the organ database.
