The Health Department of Florianópolis confirmed on Monday (11) another case of indigenous dengue in the municipality, thus bringing the number of its five cases recorded in Greater Florianópolis. According to the town hall, a 29-year-old woman was also reported to have contracted the disease at a road transport company on the mainland, where four other people were infected.

The patient lives in the district of Ribeirão da Ilha. Other people who have contracted dengue fever are a 24-year-old man, a 31-year-old man, a 35-year-old woman, and a 4-year-old child. Everyone is well.

The 31-year-old man resides in Biguaçu. According to the capital of the city, they are considered as an autochthonous case in the commune and four in Florianópolis.

It is suspected that the bus company became the center of the disease due to interstate travel. In the interstate lines between São Paulo and Paraná, the mosquito could have been brought and laid in the unit.

Inspection at a bus company

On Monday morning, a team from the town hall carried out a survey of the bus company. Possible foci of the disease were monitored and larvicides were applied.

The four adults work in the company. The 4-year-old would have gone on vacation with his 35-year-old mother.

Last week, Viação Catarinense confirmed that dengue fever had been diagnosed in three subcontracted employees and that she had informed the health surveillance. On Monday morning, the report could not contact the company.

Last Tuesday (5), an insecticide was applied in the mainland of the capital, shortly after the first confirmation of the disease. The first step with the use of poison was made in the Estreito district.
