The future Minister of Environment, Ricardo Salles, announced the names of presidents of the Brazilian Institute of Environment and Renewable Natural Resources (IBAMA) and Institute Chico Mendes Conservation of Biodiversity (ICMBio) under the direction of Jair Bolsonaro.

Halls (20) informed GloboNews that Ibama would be chaired by lawyer Eduardo Bim, while ICMBio reportedly under the orders of Ecologist Adalberto Eberhard.

Both bodies are linked to the Ministry of the Environment. The ICMBio is responsible for 335 federal conservation units, spread across all the country's biomes (Amazon, Caatinga, Cerrado, Mata Atlantica, Pampa, Pantbad and Marinho).

IBAMA's remit includes the power of the environmental police, inspection work and enforcement of environmental licensing and natural resource use licensing policy.

President-elect Jair Bolsonaro often criticizes the environmental licensing process and pleads for greater speed in licensing work and other projects. He also announced his intention to end the "feast" of fines imposed by IBAMA.

Eduardo Bim is a federal prosecutor and works with Ibama. The program of the future president of the institute indicates that he is a doctor in law of the State, master in law, specialist in environmental law and specialist in tax law.

Adalberto Ebehard is the founder of the non-governmental organization Ecotrópica, which manages private natural heritage reserves in the Pantbad region. He also served in the territorial zoning department of the Ministry of Environment under the government of Dilma Rousseff (PT).
