(MG), after the rupture of the Vale Dam in the city of Brumadinho
, in the metropolitan area of Belo Horizonte. The estimate is that it will take about two days to dam residue sludge to reach the plant. The government is still calculating the amount of materials that the plant will keep.
The hydroelectric plant, with an installed capacity of 82 megawatts (MW), belongs to Cemig and Furnas. According to the badessment of ONS, the accident will not have a significant impact nor will pose any problems for the operation of the country's electrical system.
According to the National Water Agency (ANA), the wave of rejection of the dam that broke in Brumadinho will be "mitigated" by the reservoir of the hydroelectric plant Retiro Baixo, located 220 km from the site of the rupture.
Furnas also monitors the possibility that the wave of residues will reach the Três Marias plant. Paraopeba flows into the São Francisco River, which has this hydropower plant as the first power station.
