SÃO PAULO – Without major news since the iPhone X, the range of smartphones Apple could well experience a radical rebound in this period of worrying drop in sales.
The company has filed a patent for the creation of a touch screen device for the entire screen, reported AppleInsider.com this week. The novelty would mark the return of a technology set aside in 2018, when fingerprinting was replaced by facial recognition.
According to the patent, Apple plans to create a technology of "acoustic pulse coding for input surface images". In addition to digital standards, the system can read sound waves, pulses or mechanical waves. Thus, touching any part of the surface can guarantee the identity of the device user.
The technology could be used for the security of payment applications, for example, and is considered to be safer than traditional fingerprint readers. by the combination of the stimuli used.
The novelty is very similar to a technology developed by Qualcomm called Ultrasonic, which creates 3D maps of fingerprints from acoustic vibrations on the screen. It is expected that this technology will be integrated with the Galaxy S10, which will be launched by Samsung later this month.
