Revealed this week, the leak revealing more than 772 million email addresses and 21 million pbadwords could be larger than imagined. On Friday (18), the information security researcher, Brian Krebs, said on his Twitter account that he had found a new set of digital references that would complete the first file and would be at least ten times more bulky.
Without revealing the identity of the offender, Krebs said that he was in contact with the hacker who allegedly exposed and sold the data on the Internet.
Facebook admits the data leak of 50 million users
The alleged criminal had proposed, via the Telegram application, the sale of a package of 1 terabyte, containing a lot of personal information about users – equivalent to more than 100 movies, two hours in high definition. The first file, called Collection # 1, contained 87 gigabytes (one terabyte, in turn, was 1024 gigabytes).
On Twitter, Krebs also released an image supposed to prove the existence of the new package sold by A mere $ 45 by the hacker. In addition to Collection # 1, the file included four other collections, as well as dispersed data collections. Krebs also said on Twitter that the hacker had tried to sell him another package of a size of four terabytes
. The expert also confirmed the theory that the data belonging to the packets were part of the information previously disclosed on the Internet. Another sign that adds to this badumption is the fact that Hold Security, a cybersecurity company, says that it has already found 99% of the data in the No. 1 collection in small packets scattered across the network. We know that the files collected and exhibited in the first collection were collected from 2,000 databases collected in the last two or three years.
