The year 2018 was marked by countless indies of immense quality, visually stunning and extremely entertaining. So, to remind you and celebrate how good this year has been for low-budget and high-performance games, we've listed six remarkable indies so you do not miss them!
The Messenger
More than a stimulating platform game, The Messenger is a beautiful tribute to the clbadic Ninja Gaiden who plays with his pixelated look and adds good doses of humor in his story. The dialogues very well translated into Portuguese are filled with jokes clichées that will allow you to cross the most improbable moments, like a simple conversation with a trader or a mercenary demon. The game may seem linear at first, but make no mistake, because the mechanics to go from 8 to 16 bits will give the player the feeling of playing two games in one.
The Messenger is available. for Nintendo Switch and PC
Dandara
The Brazilian company Metroidvania, developed by the Long Hat House mining studio, has charmed and surprised many people in 2018, we control Dandara, a warrior strongly inspired by the history of Brazil, in a narrative influenced by various works by George Orwell who described dystopian societies, such as and 1984 ].
Dandara is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android
Celeste
Celeste is one of those games that remind us that simplicity can sometimes be more complex than it seems. With a simple mechanics, the game mixes deck elements and riddles with a poetic tale. The plot is played by Madeline, a girl who is discovering herself and who will have to face her inner demons to reach the top of the mountain. The entire visual (from pixel art to the conceptual arts) was developed by Brazilian MiniBoss artists, who worked in partnership with Canadian studio Matt Makes Games. This team was also responsible for the excellent Towerfall back in 2013.
Celeste is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
Dead Cells
Are you ready to hang on to a frenzied world of pixel art? So Dead Cells is your place! The title is a roguelite (in which the player will face different matches, but will keep part of its progression) which explores the best elements of a good Metroidvania: agile gameplay, a difficult difficulty and a creative mechanics . It may seem intimidating at first, but giving in to the challenge of the 2D platform game is the first step to success. Dead Cells is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch
Dead Cells is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch. 19659002] Minit
Minit's proposal is to evaluate every minute … literally. In this one, the protagonist has found a cursed sword and has only 60 seconds of life. If time pbades, it comes back to the starting point: your house. Following this formula and a monochromatic look, the player has to face enemies, solve puzzles and explore the surroundings of this enigmatic world. It can be hard to get used to the repetitive mechanics at first, but meeting the challenges and finding ways to progress makes this small independent film a unique adventure.
Minit is available on PS4, Xbox One, PC and Nintendo Switch
Moonlighter
Get ready for a double work trip in Moonlighter! In this document, the player controls Will, a salesman who must find valuable items for sale in his shop. The nights are therefore devoted to explorations in dungeons more and more obscure in search of carcbades of monsters and precious stones, while the days are used to sell (or at least to try to sell) all what was found. With elements of "roguelite" the game has a simple mechanics and a simple monetary system that awakens the best mercenary adventurer in you. Moonlighter is available for PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch.
