The number of motorcycles is higher than that of cars in 45% of cities, according to a survey published today (2) by the National Confederation of Municipalities (CNM) on the fleet of vehicles in Brazil. According to the survey, there were more motorcycles than cars circulating in 2,487 of the 5,568 Brazilian municipalities in April this year.
Across the country, 26.4 million bicycles were registered, a larger fleet of 3.44% than in April of last year. The region that leads this proportion is the Northeast, where the motorcycle fleet reaches 7.49 million against 6.67 million cars. In the North, there are 2.49 million bicycles against 1.67 million cars
In Acre, all cities have more bikes than cars. In Maranhão and Pará, 99% of cities follow this pattern. In Pedreiro, Ceará, nearly 54% of the population has a motorcycle, followed by Tocantinópolis (TO) and Água Branca, with respectively 53.07% and 49.34%.
According to the CNM, the country is due to the credit facility, the low price of the benefits of this type of vehicle, the incentives and exemptions of the federal government in the market, in addition to the shortage of public transport. In the case of the Northeast, the study indicates that there are obvious signs of replacement of traction animals, such as the horse, donkey and donkey, by the motorcycle [19659002] Another factor reported by the CNM is road congestion and complications the survey shows that cars are still leading in cars and that means of locomotion. In April of this year, Brazil had 53.4 million cars, which represents one car for 3.89 inhabitants, 3.3% more than the one recorded in April of last year.
However, the state of São Paulo has 17.8 million cars, accounting for 33.47% of the country's fleet. The cities with the least cars in the country are located in the northern region, where in many cases the locomotion is made by the river environment. The cities of Itamarati and Tonantins, in the Amazon, have two cars for a population of 8.1 thousand and 18.7 thousand inhabitants respectively. The city of Afuá, Pará, has three cars for a population of just over 38,000 inhabitants
The survey also provides information on public transport. According to the study, Brazil has 616,000 buses, most of them traveling in a city of more than 60,000 inhabitants.
With regard to the transportation of goods, Brazil has nearly 14 million trucks, with a total of more than 14 million trucks, trucks or vans. Although the freight fleet is higher in the Southeast, where the gross domestic product (GDP) – the sum of all goods and services produced in the country – is larger than the number of other vehicles in North and Northeast has more trucks than cars.
CNM explains that the largest presence of trucks in the north of the country is due to the transfer of part of the flow to northern ports, in addition to improvements in road structure.
The study is based on data from the National Traffic Department (Denatran), as of April 2018, with the objective of badyzing the growth of the fleet of 39: automobiles, motorcycles, buses and lorries
