The port of Paranaguá (PR) processed 4.4 million tons of cargo in November. From January to November, the volume handled reached 48.8 million tonnes, or 97% of total merchandise in 2017, when the port broke the record of 50.3 million tonnes. As a result, the government of Paraná plans to end the year 2018 with a new record, according to a note from the administration of the port of Paranaguá and Antonina (Appa).

"Every month, on average, about 4 million tons of goods pbad through the terminal, and the reports of recent years are due to improvements in operational, logistics and planning processes," said Lourenço Fregonese, CEO. from Appa, in the release.

Paranaguá is the main bulk carrier in Latin America. In 2011, the volume of trade in the export corridor increased by 45%. Today, more than 80% of the cereal production of Paraná cooperatives is exported through the port of the state.

Of the 48.8 million tonnes processed up to November, 32.6 million corresponded to solid bulk, 4%. tons at the same time last year. Soybeans remain the main product transported by the port. It was 14.4 million tonnes from January to November 2018, 32% more than in the corresponding period of 2017, when 10.9 million tonnes had been phased out. Sound exports increased by 19% in 2005, reaching 5.1 million tonnes, up from 4.3 million last year.

Wheat imports recorded the highest growth, 52%, 216 787 tonnes, according to the Appa. Last year, there were 142,776 tons. totaling 9.6 million tonnes. Liquid bulk exports, such as oil and other petroleum products, increased by 10% between 2017 and 2018, from 1.5 million to 1.7 million tonnes. Imports of products in this category decreased by 13%, from 5.5 million tonnes in 11 months in 2017 to 4.5 million tonnes in 2013.
