The price of the bus ticket to João Pessoa should be increased by R $ 0.40, as decided at a meeting held by the City Council on Urban Mobility on Friday (11). Thus, the fare will increase from R $ 3.55 to R $ 3.95. However, this amount will be applied only to cash payments, as users of the "legal pbad" card will have to pay R $ 3.80.
According to the Executive Superintendency of Urban Mobility (Semob-JP), the new values will be billed starting Sunday (13). However, pbadengers who have already filled the pbad can use the remaining value of the card on the basis of the old price of $ 3.55 for a month or until a new recharge be required.
In the case of students who use the legal pbad, the amount charged will be that of the card. Thus, the half-pbad will cost $ 1.90.
During the meeting, a cost sheet was submitted indicating that it would be necessary to readjust the amount of R $ 3.98. Despite this, the Board set the price at R $ 3.95.
The cost changes were justified by an increase in fuel prices and personnel costs. In addition, it was pointed out a 6.4% decrease in the number of tickets purchased in 2018 compared to the previous year.
According to Semob-JP and the João Pessoa Urban Transit Syndicate, the initiative to impose a lower value on the users of the "legal pbad" aims to retain and attract more pbadengers, to make sending more agile and more impact on the household budget.
