A pyramid that could be the oldest found to date in the world has been discovered atop Mount Padang, West Java, Indonesia.
A team of Indonesian scientists and geologists introduced the discovery on December 12th. of a pyramidal structure. The structure is located under an archaeological site discovered in the early nineteenth century and houses rows of ancient stone pillars.

Below the surface, at a depth of about 3 meters, is a second layer of similar rock columns, ages 7,500 to 8,300 years old. A third layer, which extends 15 meters below the surface, is over 9,000 years old, or even 28,000, according to the study.
Although the structure looks like a pyramid, it is different from the pyramids built by the Mayans, explained to Science Danny Hilman Natawidjaja, a scientist at the Institute of Science.
