While the neo-Nazis go to the small town of Ostritz in eastern Germany, attracted by the events, another group of people also planned to visit the city, but to oppose extremism.
In October, Eva Hauptfleisch returned to her family's hometown for the second time in 2018 for this. This area was once part of East Germany and much of its population still lives after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1989.
At the closing factories, thousands of people went to the west of the country, including Eva's parents. Hauptfleisch, who went to Frankfurt, where she was born later.
Many of those who remained lost their livelihoods while their new compatriots from West Germany were taking business and buying homes in the area.
Twenty-eight years after this splitter – or reunifier – of the waters, many inhabitants of the former East Germany have reached the retirement age on the threshold of poverty.
The decision of German Chancellor Angela Merkel to open the door to a million refugees in 2015 set fire to the powders in the east, where further losses were feared for the local population.
Eva describes the situation in Ostritz, which has 2,000 inhabitants.
"The city was sleeping," he says. "Many people are depressed because they have lost their jobs and have no opportunity to go anywhere else."
Eva Hauptfleisch and her colleagues organized a festival of peace.
"We must act now to preserve our democratic system, threatened by neo-Nazis, right-wing extremists and their supporters in governments and state bademblies," said Michael Schlitt, organizer of the event.
"We must not give them any space – not a single meter."
Across the city, hundreds of armed police surround the neo-Nazi festival of the Neisseblick hotel.

Hans-Peter Fischer, owner of the hotel, says he is happy that the neo-Nazis have returned to Ostritz, their festival generating income.
"It was the only way to sell here," he said, noting that he had not received any compensation when his property had been damaged by a flood.
Four similar events are scheduled at the hotel in 2019.
