As of November 2019, NASA may not be able to send American astronauts into space, according to a US government report.

Today, the US space agency relies on Russia to send astronauts aboard the ISS, but for years the idea has been to fend off astronauts towards the # 39; ISS.

The period coincides with the return of the last astronauts to Earth on the Russian spacecraft Soyuz. Boeing and SpaceX have been responsible for developing new launch systems since 2014, but the Office of the Controller of the United States of America is responsible for developing new launch systems since 2014. However, there are three Americans, one German and two Russians at ISS. The government said the two companies are behind in their programs. This means that the certification of the two private companies will take some time, expected in December 2019 for Boeing, and in January 2020 for SpaceX.

Meanwhile, NASA is still looking for safe and viable alternatives avoiding the interruption of their space exploration, risking to spend up to nine months without an American in space.
