Flags floated in Saturday night in Washington, while Americans were preparing for a week of tributes to George HW Bush, the 41st President of the United States, who died yesterday at the age of 94.
Following the announcement of his death, tributes multiplied for this decorated war hero and former director of the CIA, who saw his son George follow in his footsteps and reach the White House
A spokesman for US President Donald Trump said that "a funeral honored by the state is being prepared." Trump has declared December 5 as "the day of national mourning" and the New York Stock Exchange will not open on that date.
The funeral will include a tribute by gathering former presidents in Houston, where President Bush has been living for years in Washington, DC, where the body will remain at the Capitol between Monday and Wednesday, before being transferred to College Station, Texas – where the Bush Presidential Library is located – for burial.
Trump and the First Lady, Melania, will attend the funeral at the Washington National Cathedral. In "a special tribute" to Bush, the US president announced that he would send the presidential plane to transport Houston's body to Washington.
