Three deaths due to suspicion of dengue fever are under investigation in Minas Gerais, according to an epidemiological bulletin published by the State Department of Health and published Monday (14). Minas Gerais already has 1,571 probable cases of the disease, which includes confirmations and suspicions of the disease. In January 2018, 2,041 cases were recorded, compared with 1,571 in just 14 days.

In the last four weeks, five municipalities have reported alarming rates of mosquito proliferation.

In 2018, eight people died as a result of the disease in Araújos, Arcos, Conceição do Pará, Lagoa da Prata and Moema in the Midwest of the state. in Earl, in Great BH; and Ituiutaba and Uberaba, in the triangle of Minas. Sixteen other cases continue to be investigated.

With regard to chikungunya, the state has identified 17 probable cases of the disease and 2 deaths are currently the subject of an investigation. On the Zika virus, up to the date of update of the report, 6 probable cases were recorded in 2019.

Precautions:

According to the SES, the participation of the population is fundamental in the control actions of Aedes aegypti and the best way to prevent it is to eliminate pockets of water accumulation, considered mosquito breeding sites. Therefore, it is important to keep sealed water tanks, store tires and bottles in covered places, keep them clean and sealed, and dispose of waste properly.

Among the mosquito prevention and control measures also include care with the gutters, preventing leaves and dirt from accumulating. Plant pans should be removed, as well as special care with animal troughs, which should be cleaned daily. It is also advisable to clean pools and water sources, refrigerator trays and air conditioning.

The Aedes reproductive cycle can range from 5 to 10 days, pbading through the larval stage to adult form. This is the female mosquito that lays its eggs in the inner wall of the tanks and these can remain viable for about a year. As soon as the egg comes into contact with water, it bursts and begins the cycle, so it is essential to conduct detailed surveys both inside and in the back yard to eliminate possible foci.
