Twelve Brazilian states and the Federal District have reduced the average reference value for calculating the ICMS, on diesel sold at stations, in the midst of political efforts to complete a price reduction promised by the federal government to end a shutdown of truck in the past month.
According to a chart released Wednesday by the National Council of Financial Policy (Confaz), the states of Acre, Amazonas, Amapá, Federal District, Goiás, Mato Grosso do Sul, Paraíba, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Norte, Roraima, Rio Grande do Sul, Sergipe and Tocantins have reduced the values of PMPF.
The PMPF, or Final Weighted Average Price, used as the basis for calculating the ICMS, is published every 15 days. The figures were published in the Official Journal this Wednesday and will be valid from 1 July.
Reducing the indicator is necessary for states to cut government-promised diesel prices by 46 cents to truckers, resulting in major shortages and economic shocks by limiting the 11-day shutdown to high fuel prices .
The government has created a subsidy program for producers and importers of fossil diesel, freezing prices and reimbursing companies for losses of up to 30 cents per liter, depending on market conditions.
But to complete the additional 16-cent reduction, the government has cut federal taxes and further reduced ICMS fees.
Biodiesel, which accounts for 10% of the final blend of diesel sold in the resorts, has not been subsidized by the government.
It is not yet clear which states have managed to cut the 46-cent cut.
In an interview last week, Plural's director of strategic planning, the badociation representing the country's leading fuel distribution companies, Helvio Rebeschini, said that only the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo and Espírito Santo had completed the cuts this year. moment.

On Tuesday evening, the government announced that it had notified Distributors BR Distribuidora, of Petrobras, Ipiranga, of Ultrapar Group, Raízen, a joint venture of Cosan with Shell, Alesat, Ciapetro, Royal Fic and Zema for alleged default of transfer allowed cuts to the grant program.
"98 complaints were filed by petrol stations with the mediator of the Ministry of Justice, informing that distributors do not pbad the reduction granted by the government on the price of diesel," said the Ministry of Justice in a statement.
Distributors will have ten days to provide details and are liable to a fine of up to 9 million reais.
In a note, Plural reaffirmed Wednesday that its members have pledged since June 1 to pbad on the discounts they receive from Petrobras in the diesel, noting that the badociation has no interference with the trade policy of its members.
"To reach 46 cents, it is necessary to reduce the ICMS in the United States," he said.
