After the monumental failure of the new version of The Mummy, Universal abandons the creation of a universe shared with all the clbadic monsters, including Dracula and Frankstein. Initially, the studio wanted to gather all the monsters in a series of Marvel films. The idea did not work well and the first two films of this franchise were disastrous financially. As a result, Universal has proposed new opportunities for the franchise, which will now include isolated films, made by directors without a signature or link between them.
One of the movies that the distributor put on the course was Invisible Man. – a new version of the 1933 film based on the novel by HG Wells. Initially, Johnny Depp would play in the adaptation, but the contract was canceled and it will no longer appear in the film, which now features the direction of Leigh Whannel (Upgrade) and production Jason Blum
The shared universe of Monsters of Universal began in 2017 with the new version of The Mummy with Tom Cruise. The film had disastrous reviews and was a commercial failure. After the crash of the first exit, the universe began to reverse in October of the same year, when the pre-production of The Bride of Frankenstein was suspended for a duration undetermined and that Angelina Jolie left the film. This series of films was announced triumphantly by the distributor, starring actors of weight in each of the films. The universe of the monster became the cover of the magazine Vanity Fair, which features actors by Javier Bardem (Frankenstein's monster), by Russell Crowe (Henry Jekyll / Edward Hyde) Johnny Depp (the invisible man) and Sofia Boutella (the mummy).
