Vaccination against yellow fever in Curitiba on Saturday

[ad_1]

Curitiba will be vaccinated against yellow fever on Saturday morning in some health facilities in the city. Until then, the application of doses occurred only between Monday and Friday. The special schedule begins Saturday (2) at Vila Guaíra (Guaíra), João Cândido (Bairro Novo) and São José (CIC) units and will continue until March 16, according to the Curitiba town hall.

On the following Saturdays, the vaccine will be available at other positions. There will be no vaccination on March 2nd. See the schedule below. Check out the schedule below:

This change is motivated by the difficulty of some people to get vaccinated during the week and by the increased demand for vaccines against the disease, especially after the confirmation of a case of yellow fever in Antonina last Tuesday (29). In the Litoral, the Paraná Institute of the Environment (IAP) closed the national parks of the region for an indefinite period.

Between 28 and 31 January, 27,054 doses of vaccine were applied in Curitiba health units. of the month was 54,843. That is, almost half was applied in four days.

Vaccination during the week normally follows the schedule already in place. In 21 units, vaccines are applied from Monday to Friday.

Who Should Take

The vaccine is indicated for people aged 9 months to 59 years, from 11 months to 29 days. People over 60, pregnant and lactating must submit a medical prescription to be vaccinated. Anyone who has ever taken the vaccine does not need to repeat the dose. If in doubt, it is possible to check with health facilities if the vaccination record is recorded.

The disease is transmitted by mosquito bites of the genera Haemagogus and Sabethes (wild yellow fever) and by Aedes aegypti (urban yellow fever virus). Monkeys do not transmit diseases and are infected in the same way as men. Animals are sentinels and can indicate the presence of the disease. Even if there is suspicion of contamination, they should not be killed.

Symptoms and Transmission

The main symptom of the disease is the sudden onset of fever. Other conditions should be badociated, such as headache, nausea, vomiting, joint pain, abdominal pain, lower back pain, jaundice or bleeding.
