Venezuela cuts $ 2.3 billion debt with Russia

The government of Russia is the second largest creditor of Venezuela, behind China. Venezuela reduced its large debt to the Russian semi-public oil company Rosneft in to $ 2.3 billion ] in 2018, according to information on the company, Tuesday (5).

In a presentation to his investors, Rosneft said that in 2018 Venezuela had returned the billions borrowed – without interest – by the oil company of Russia .

Part of the Venezuelan debt to Russia is repaid in the form of hydrocarbons, in accordance with the agreements made between Rosneft and the Venezuelan oil company PDVSA

Officially, the contributions are advances on oil and fuel delivery contracts, but many experts consider direct financial support to the dictatorship of Caracas .

Rosreft holds a minority stake in four PDVSA oil projects and owns several gas plants in the country, reports Correio Braziliense.
