CARACAS – In a political crisis with no solution in sight, the dispute between
Nicolás Maduro
and
Juan Guaidó
, self-proclaimed interim president with the support of the National Assembly (AN), increases and violence increases. Above all, according to the NGO "Foro Penal", in the poorest areas, where daily demonstrations against Chavez are multiplying.

After attending Mbad in Chacao Municipality, in the metropolitan area of Caracas, Guaidó asked police and members of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) to "not repress the people".

According to the Venezuelan Observatory of Social Conflicts, in less than a week, 29 people were murdered (some talk about more than 30) and, according to the Criminal Forum, at least 500 people were arrested , many of them.

– Venezuelan soldier, I speak to you, it is the moment. Do not suppress the people – said the president of the AN, recognized as interim president by 18 countries, including Brazil and, since that Sunday, Israel.

The Criminal Forum also denounced the torture of political prisoners by Bolivian intelligence services (Sebin). For this week, new marches are planned in Caracas for Wednesday and Saturday, convened by the President of the NA.

Guaidó said he was concerned about the crackdown and announced that he would hold an emergency meeting with NGOs and human rights defenders. The President also called on the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, the former President of Chile, Michelle Bachelet, to "accelerate her visit to the country".

"We will list the names of those responsible for the Special Action Force (FAF), prosecutors and judges involved in the mbadacres that began on January 22, and will seek immediate sanctions from the courts and of the international community, "he wrote. Guaidó on a social network.

Political climate in the church

This Sunday, his presence in the church of Chacao was a surprise, even for the parish priest, Reinaldo Gamez. The church was crowded and, according to GLOBO, what scared the parish priest the most is the number of local and foreign journalists. Without hesitation, the priest closed the mbad to greet "the acting president of Venezuela", causing a wave of applause and cries of "freedom".

– He said what he had to say, he is constitutionally our acting president, – stressed the priest.

This is how Venezuela lives. On one side, Maduro, president of the Miraflores Palace, considered usurper by his opponents and whose second term is described as illegitimate by more than 40 countries; On the other hand, Guaidó, who in the streets, neighborhoods, churches and other spaces of Caracas has aroused the enthusiasm of critics of the government, even Chavistas, in addition to being recognized as interim president by 19 countries. This Sunday, Australia and Isrel announced their recognition to Guaidó, joining the 16 other countries of the Americas, including Brazil, the United States and Albania.

The European Union (EU) should be recognized as a bloc in the coming days, as Maduro has made it clear that it does not accept any type of ultimatum for convening new presidential elections. The request was made by the EU last Friday and immediately rejected by the Miraflores Palace.

In his Twitter account, US Senator Marco Rubio, an important ally of the Venezuelan opposition, said that "the US government has ceded to the government control of the Venezuelan government and the Central Bank of Venezuela's bank accounts. from the Acting President (Juan Guaidó). "New White House actions were to extend the Maduro government's financial headquarters, as it is one of the key tactics of the Trump government to increase pressure on Chavismo.

The United States Government also announced that it accepted the appointment of Carlos Vecchio as the diplomatic representative of Juan Guaidó's "interim government". The information that Vecchio would be the one chosen last Saturday by the Globe, was expected with great anticipation by the opposition, to the extent that the United States play a central role in the offensive against the government President Nicolás Maduro.

In an official statement, the State Department announced that Vecchio, exiled four years ago in the United States, would have "authority over Venezuelan diplomatic affairs" on US territory.

After appointing Vecchio, the number two party of the popular will, the same as Guaidó, the "outgoing president" negotiates with his alliance the appointment of representatives in other countries, mainly Brazil and Colombia . One of the most important names in Brasilia is that of deputy Francisco Sucre, also the vice president, led by Leopoldo López, under house arrest.

Brazil and Colombia are essential for Guaido to put in place a humanitarian channel, which aims not only to mitigate the social tragedy of millions of Venezuelans, but also to ensure the military sectors' accession to the "interim government ".

Every day, questions multiply and even the most badysts reputed dare to say who will win the political contest, discussed last Saturday at the Council of Security Council of the United Nations. For Luis Vicente León, director of Datbadisis, the opposition has never been so far, but Chavismo can still guarantee its survival. It emphasizes that the "government in charge" must "definitively and definitively break the chavismo within the armed forces":

– Maduro can survive with the American blockade, selling less oil and with the demobilized popular sectors, as we see it. But it does not last a day without military support.

Guaidó is aware of this and this Sunday his deputies and his supporters worked on the
law of amnesty
for civilians and military personnel. The text was delivered to police and military barracks. With Venezuelan flags, opposition groups handed out copies of the law before Fort Tiuna, Venezuela's main military complex.

Some soldiers burned them, others tore them apart. "The armed forces are alongside our commander in chief, Nicolas Maduro," said a soldier on a road leading to the command of the army in San Bernardino, north of Caracas.

For Leon, the movement is smart, but it remains necessary to negotiate face to face with the military – which is very difficult given the armor imposed by Chavismo and the Cuban intelligence services – and offers strong guarantees.

– There is a risk that human rights NGOs may question this amnesty. And the military still does not feel safe – says Leon.
