The Nintendo Switch is about to end two years of existence. It seems to be once again one of the main doubts about the console: if it had the support of producers without any direct link to Nintendo – the so-called third parties. ] The worry was a reason: the games of these developers were virtually absent on Wii U, which contributed to the complete failure of the console. It was the least sold console in the history of Nintendo and the second video game of the company to have fewer games – here, considering the consoles and laptops, it is just losing to the Unforgettable Virtual Boy.
What we have seen with the current Nintendo's hybrid video game, however, is a considerable support from third parties . It's important to point out that this is not a situation like that of the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox 1. The Sony and Microsoft consoles share much of the library, but some of these superb multiplatform games – and even exclusive games like "Mario + Rabbids": Kingdom Battle "- landed on the switch without making it ugly.
And even with weaker hardware than the PS4 and Xbox One, the switch proposal turned out ideal for some games that have virtually gained new life in the video game.
An example is "Diablo III: Eternal Collection", version of the popular RPG action that landed on the Switch at the beginning of the month November In addition to not disappointing on the technical level, the structure of the game, separated by missions, corresponds to the portable proposal of the console.
It is possible to play short games and progress in the game without having necessarily needed
This does not prevent the switch, which also offers three multiplayer modes: the location on the same screen, is very convenient. local with more than one console and online. Even problems such as setting up the control when playing with a Joy-Con console are solved – to the extent possible, of course.
The same situation applies to games that have not undergone major conceptual adaptations, such as "Dragon Ball FighterZ", "Doom", "Skyrim" and "Wolfenstein 2". While the Arc System Works fighting game is a nice adaptation that maintains, for example, 60 frames per second, the others had a falling graphics quality to maintain a good performance.
Here, taking possible complications with controls – playing "Dragon Ball FighterZ" in wearable mode is guaranteed, but as in this mode, you lose a lot of accuracy with first-person shooter games, we see a situation similar to "Diablo" The same goes for games such as "Fortnite" and "Rocket League", whose fast online matches become ideal partners for the handset's handset mode.
Single Case
Given these conversions, a game that deserves to be highlighted in Switch is "Civilization VI". And here there are two reasons for this: this version is the first of the game consoles because it was previously limited to PCs.
Here, two points: the nature of "Civilization VI" already places it as follows. This kind of game can be played for 20 minutes or for hours. What is surprising is that the Switch remains powerful even when the map begins to clutter other civilizations.
However, there is a price to pay: when playing in portable mode, "Civilization VI" appears. an appetite for the bigger battery of the console, even that of "The legend of Zelda: the breath of nature", which exhausts the energy reserve of the device in about three hours.
That's not always good
There are cases However, some versions of games for this device are too ambitious. A recent case is that of the survival game "ARK: Survival Evolved", which was no longer an example of a technically round game, but one that landed disastrously on the switch.
Here, the problem package is complete, with game encountering rendering difficulties and sometimes as the Digital Foundry channel has pointed out to have a resolution with fewer pixels than that found in a game of Mega Drive.
Another slightly bitter-sweet case is that of "Dark Souls". Remastered. "Published a few months after the PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions, the Switch version had technical concessions to function stably.
The problem is that one of these concessions has been proven to be the scrolling speed, which was 30, against 60 of the other consoles and PCs.
This may seem trivial, since the original game of 2011 was running at 30 frames per second and was less stable than the redone version for Switch, one of the main attractions of the remastered edition is precisely the benefit provided by the 60 frames per second that improve the gameplay and fluidity of the game.
Worse: in The Switch, "Dark Souls" still undergoes sometimes drops in frames per second, even if they occur differently, lower frequency than PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360. Not to mention the sounds of the game, which sound less good in this edition.
In any case, the ability to play "Dark Souls" in the bus or subway only exists in Switch. and works well. The portable mode is ideal for famous players, gaining souls to level up and becomes more powerful to deal with the most difficult parts of the game.
This is a case that shows to how much the presence of third party weight games in the game is present.
It remains to be seen if this pace will continue over the next few years, as we approach a generation change for Sony and Microsoft video games. Therefore, we must expect games using power. additional new consoles.
Until then, however, the Nintendo Hybrid has everything to stay strong and powerful.
