Despite the similar visual, applications have different functions
(Photo: Tech Tudo) – Android Messaging for the Web is a Google platform that allows you to receive and view send SMS messages via your computer The novelty attracts attention by having a look and a series of functions very similar to those offered by the WhatsApp Web, but by looking more closely, we see that the tools present differences, such as the technology used to transmit content, protect its users, group design, among others. Check below for the main differences between programs and choose the one you need to use.

1. SMS payment per message sent

WhatsApp Web only uses mobile data and Wi-Fi data to send and receive messages. On the other hand, Android Messaging for the Web, in addition to 4G / 3G or Wi-Fi, also consumes the SMS package of the telephony plan or charges the value of each text / file. Indeed, the Google tool sends an SMS via a computer connection to the linked cell, via RCS technology, as if the user was exchanging content via a mobile. The communication standard is already available in Brazil for Claro, Oi and Vivo customers.

2. WhatsApp Web Has Status

Online messaging services have similar layouts and features, but the WhatsApp Web comes forward with its "status". The feature, which looks like Instagram Stories and Facebook Stories, allows users to view short videos, photos and text messages created by their contacts, which are on air for a period of 24 hours. This is a tool that gives a social network footprint to the application.

3. WhatsApp Web allows you to send several types of files

Although the web version of Android Messaging makes life easier for the user, including sending videos, pictures and music via MMS, the service is far from the competitor. WhatsApp Web guarantees the exchange of a wider variety of content, such as documents (eg, .doc, .txt, .xls, among others), photos and videos from the file or made with the camera itself, in addition to the phone number of other contacts. The platform also allows the recording and transmission of audios, a feature that is not offered by the Google tool.

4. Android messages have stickers

Users of WhatsApp Web have the ability to respond in a fun way to emoji or animated GIF messages. However, those who use Android Message for Web can choose, in addition to emojis, stickers. A total of 160 themed animated stickers are available, which are received by the contacts in the form of MMS (acronym for Multimedia Messaging Service or Free Message Translation Service).

5. Different ways to create groups

Both web applications allow you to create newsgroups, however, this tool has slightly different functions in each of them . On Android, the feature is that the same message is sent to multiple people, but the responses are only received by the sender of the original text – the participants in the group do not interact with each other. Unlike WhatsApp Web, all members of a group can send, receive and see each other's answers.

The ability to badign the same content to different people and to receive individual responses only exists in the mobile version of WhatsApp and the function is called transmission, not group.

6. Ignoring on Android messages is easier

If there is an annoying contact filling your unwanted message box, why not ignore it? Both platforms offer this feature, but on Google, everyone is in sight: just touch the symbol of a bell, located at the top of the chat window. In WhatsApp, the feature is hidden among the options offered in the three-dot icon also on the conversation screen with the non-grata person.

7. Anyone with Android can receive messages

Android Messenger Web goes out by allowing messages to be sent to all Android users , once the application is already installed on smartphones with the platform. The manufacturer warns, however, that some features are compatible only with Android 6.0 and later. In WhatsApp Web, the conversation can only be done with people who also have the application.

8. Encrypted Messages in Various Ways

WhatsApp ensures that messages exchanged through your service are encrypted end-to-end. This means that texts and files are sent as a code and can only be read and viewed by those who send and receive them.

The RSC technology used by Android Web Messaging does not offer the encryption option, but Google ensures that the latest conversations, contacts and other settings are encrypted and cached in the browser . After 14 days of inactivity, the account is automatically disconnected for security reasons, being necessary to reconnect via QR code
