Embraer workers demonstrated on Wednesday (23) to protest the sale of the company to Boeing, the Bolsonaro government's ongoing deal. The event was organized by the Metallurgists' Union of São José dos Campos (SP)
. The union leaders denounced the harmful effects of the sale of the Brazilian company to the local economy.
"If Boeing were to buy Embraer by taking 80% control of this new company, Embraer could buy 80% of it, we risk seeing the closure of the factory here in our area." Boeing has no commitment in our city, "said union president Weller Gonçalves.
The closing ceremony was held in front of City Hall, where protesters took up the position of Mayor Felicio Ramuth (PSDB) for the defense of jobs in the city. A symbolic vote also took place which decided to stop the sale of Embraer.
"It was an act of dialogue with the people and we need to include society in this debate," concluded Weller.
